Darcy Busch is happily married and has a teenage daughter. She was born in Amarillo, Texas and was raised by my single mom. Darcy has a twin sister, a brother and a little sister. She grew up in Scott City, Kansas. Darcy grew up not having much, but what she did made her really appreciate much more. Darcy used to teach preschool, until in 2001 shewas diagnosed with cancer. On that very same day, one of her students was killed in a car accident. Darcy became extremely depressed, but with the help of God, she came to realize that life is just too short and she needed to do something more with my life. Darcy quit her job, and returned to college in order to become a doctor. Unfortunately her brain and God decided again, her life was still going to go another direction. While attending Wichita State University, Darcy received word that her first manuscript was going to be published. . Darcy's book is called "The Adventures of Lily," and is available online @ publishamerica.com and barnesandnoble.com and borders.com, just to name a few. Darcy has been eagerly working away on her second Lily book; which is entitled "Lily and the Hidden Secrets." Which is completed and is the progress of being printed. Date of release will be annouced at a later date. She is also working on her another novel, "Do-Over" which is a fascinating book about a chance in love the second time around.

Darcy Busch enjoys being surprised as she’s reading a story- even as she’s writing it.
"I never know how things are going to turn out when I sit down at the computer," says the former Scott City resident turned author. "I just start typing and see where it takes me."
So far, it’s resulted in one published book and a second one that will soon be completed.
The 1987 graduate of Scott Community High School (formerly Darcy Brandt) has always enjoyed writing. However, it took a personal tragedy for her to finally pursue her passion.
When she was diagnosed with cancer in 2001, Busch decided it was time to make a change in her life. She returned to college to pursue a degree as a pediatrician. While enrolled in a literature class, the professor encouraged Busch to consider having her work published.
"This is giving me a chance to satisfy two dreams," says the author.
With encouragement from her professor, Busch prepared a manuscript about a 12-year old girl, Lily, and her best friend, Nick, who solve mysteries with a magical twist.
"It’s sort of a twist between Nancy Drew and Harry Potter," explains Busch, who now lives in Wichita. "It brings together what I liked about reading mysteries as a young girl with some of the things that have made Harry Potter so popular.
While "The Adventures of Lily" includes fictional creatures such as the Taemite, who live in equally fictional Strapron, the main characters live in Scott City; as a tribute to her home town. When she dreams, Lily is able to discover clues to mysteries she is trying to solve.
Busch, 38 began writing her first book during Christmas break in 2006 and it was completed about four weeks later.
"It came together pretty fast," she says.
She was even more surprised when the first publisher she approached about the book was interested. About eight months after starting her first book, Busch was proudly holding her first edition. And the publisher is anxiously awaiting her second book, "Lily and the Hidden Secrets," which will be completed this summer.
Just as with her first book, Busch admits she still doesn’t know how the second part in her series is going to turn out.
"When I sit down at the computer I don’t know what I’m going to write," she admits. "When I’m typing, I’m actually reading along with the kids. I don’t know how it will end until I get there. This book is absolutely perfect for young readers of chapter books.
